Basic Knee Instrument Sets

We know how confusing it can be when ordering new basic knee instrument sets, especially since hospitals, surgical teams, and individual orthopaedic consultants often have their own specific preferences for instrument styles or numbers. To help streamline the process, we have drawn on our experience and compiled two example basic knee sets that include the instruments most commonly used in knee surgery, providing a reliable core tray that can be adapted to different theatre needs.

These basic knee sets are designed to support surgeons through the essential stages of knee procedures, from initial incision and soft tissue handling to bone access and manipulation. The sets include reliable scalpel handles (No. 3 and No. 4) for precise incisions, a DIN basket for organised sterilisation and transport, and a variety of forceps such as Lane dissecting forceps and Gillies dissecting forceps for secure tissue handling. Haemostasis is supported with multiple Kocher artery forceps, while scissors, like Mayo and dressing scissors, allow for accurate tissue dissection and cutting.
