Basic Orthopaedic Sets
We understand that ordering new basic orthopaedic instrument sets can often be a complex and sometimes confusing process. Hospitals, surgical departments, and individual consultants frequently have their own preferences regarding specific instruments and tray configurations, which can make selecting the right set challenging. To assist with this, we have drawn on our experience and compiled some basic orthopaedic instrument sets that reflect the most commonly used and trusted tools for orthopaedic procedures. These thoughtfully assembled sets are designed to provide surgical teams with versatility, precision, and reliability for a wide range of orthopaedic surgeries.
The instruments in these sets have been carefully selected to support every stage of the procedure, from initial incision to closure. The sets include a selection of scalpel handles and blades for precise incisions, Mayo and utility scissors for tissue dissection, and a range of forceps such as Lane tissue forceps and Gillies dissecting forceps for secure tissue handling. Artery forceps, including Kocher and straight types, ensure effective haemostasis during the procedure. Needle holders, such as the Mayo-Hegar with tungsten carbide gold bows, facilitate accurate suturing, while retractors like the Langenbeck and Norfolk & Norwich types provide optimal exposure of the surgical site. The inclusion of sponge-holding forceps, like the Rampley type, assists in maintaining a clear operative field.
