Ophthalmic Set
We understand that ordering a new ophthalmic instrument set can be a complicated process. Hospitals, ophthalmic departments, and individual eye surgeons often have very specific preferences when it comes to their tray configuration, forceps, retractors, and microsurgical tools. To help simplify things, we have drawn on our experience working with ophthalmic teams to put together a recommended set that reflects many of the most commonly used instruments in eye surgery.
This ophthalmic set is designed to support a broad range of eye procedures, from eyelid operations to intraocular repair. The set includes a variety of Chalazian sharp spoons (four bowl shapes) for effective tissue removal and manipulation. There’s also a No. 3 scalpel handle for precise incisions, along with fine forceps: Moorfields forceps (110 mm) for delicate grasping and Adson dissecting 1–2 teeth forceps for tissue handling.

To maintain exposure and control, the set includes three sizes of Desmarres eyelid retractors for working around the eyelids. For suturing, there is a Barraquer curved needle holder (110 mm), and for cutting, Stevens tenotomy scissors and iris scissors are included. The inclusion of corneal suturing forceps (Jayles, St Martin) and a straight bulldog clamp ensures precise tissue handling during delicate microsurgical steps.
Haemostasis is supported by Halstead mosquito forceps (curved), and for coagulation control, the set features bipolar forceps (1 mm medium tip) paired with standard bipolar leads (3 m with twin lantern pin) for stable and safe electrosurgery. Additional instruments include a ball-and-socket towel clip, a Rampley sponge-holding forceps, and a DIN sterilisation basket for organisation and reprocessing.
Each instrument has been selected for its balance of precision, durability, and suitability for repeated use in ophthalmic surgery. By bringing together these highly used and trusted tools in one set, surgical teams are better equipped to perform a variety of eye procedures with confidence, efficiency, and minimal variation in tray setup.
