IDsc 2014 Preview – Blackpool 1st – 3rd December

We are delighted to be exhibiting once again for our 5th year in a row at the IDSc in Blackpool.

Please come and say hello to us, we have a new exhibition spot in the lobby and I’m looking forward to getting round the conference and catching up with some other regulars. The conference as usual is the place to go, to hear all the hot topics in the decontamination world. Last year there was a focus on prions and residue protein, with presentations by Dr Nayuni.

Congratulations this year to Susan Meredith, who takes over as Chair of the IDSc.

IDSc CONFERENCE 2014 is planned to celebrate continuing progress in our new role as Healthcare Scientists and to encompass the developing combined interests of all disciplines involved in the decontamination of reusable medical devices.

The conference is held over 3 days, with topics as follows:

Professor Tony Young chairs the first session which covers operational endoscopy, with a variety of interesting presentations.

The second day covers the variation of the role of decontamination lead, looking at the flexibility and multi faceted role that goes into this role.

Professor Andrew Smith presents the dental dilemma. This will be an interesting follow up to ‘dentists get off lightly’ at last years csc.

The final morning covers future developments for new disinfection and sterilisation methods with Shirley Fletcher (Department of Health Scientific Career Modernisation Programme), on ‘THE WAY FORWARD – Health Service Apprenticeships and IDSc Integration’.
