Poor Surgical Instrument Repairs – Not So ‘Super Cut’

Would you be happy if the you used your budget for a specialised ‘Stille type’ super cut scissor repair and got this back – worse still, if it was used on a family member? Surely it is time to look beyond the false economy of the cheapest option.

Poor surgical instrument repairs waste valuable NHS money. The repair below, should have featured a fine micro serrated edge, instead there is a botched rough ground edge, by an inadequately trained ‘technician’, which is not fit for use on the patient. The multi contours and ridges are quite unbelievable.

The other edge should be razor sharp, so it can work in conjunction with the micro serrated edge for perfect grip and cut.

Surgical Instruments should be manufactured to British Standards and if repaired, this standard should be maintained or regenerated, so the device performs as it was designed to and does not potentially raise a clinical risk. What can’t be seen, is that the blade has lost all hardness, from poor grinding and will need continuous repair jobs, wasting more and more money.
