Celebrating Terry’s Remarkable 37-Year Journey at Surgical Holdings

Surgical Holdings has said a huge thank you and farewell to Factory Manager Terry as he retired after more than 37 years with the business.

Terry officially joined the company on 11 November 1988, beginning a career that would leave a lasting impact on Surgical Holdings. An award-winning apprentice and recipient of the prestigious Henry Souttar Award during his time at Arnold’s/McCarty Medical, Terry brought exceptional skill, dedication, and a passion for engineering excellence from day one.

The world looked very different back in 1988. There were no emails, floppy disks were the norm, and Orinoco Flow by Enya was sitting at number one in the charts. Surgical Holdings was also a very different business at the time – a small team of just five people working from Phil Coole’s garage.

Over nearly four decades, Terry has played an integral role in every stage of the company’s growth and success. From those early beginnings to becoming the 60-strong organisation it is today and joining the STILLE AB family, his contribution has been immeasurable.

Throughout his career, Terry has helped manufacture and repair hundreds of thousands of surgical instruments, supported and trained colleagues, welcomed hospital partners, and played a key role in shaping and strengthening the company’s services. His knowledge, commitment, and leadership have helped build the Surgical Holdings customers and colleagues know today.

Dan Coole, Managing Director at Surgical Holdings, said:

“Terry has been a huge part of Surgical Holdings for almost four decades and his contribution to the business simply cannot be overstated. From the early days working in my dad’s garage to helping grow the company into what it is today, Terry has been there every step of the way.

“His knowledge, loyalty, work ethic and commitment to quality have helped shape the business and the culture we have today. He’s not only been a fantastic colleague, but also a mentor and friend to many people across the organisation.

“On behalf of everyone at Surgical Holdings, I’d like to thank Terry for everything he has done over the years and wish him a long, happy and well-earned retirement.”

Terry leaves behind an incredible professional legacy and respect and gratitude of everyone who has had the pleasure of working alongside him.
