Surgical Holdings Academy Returns in Early 2026 with Webinar on Sterilisation Containers

Date: Thursday 29 January 2026
Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Format: Online webinar

The Surgical Holdings Academy will return in early 2026 with an online-only webinar addressing one of the most debated topics in theatre sterilisation: Sterilisation Containers – Circular Economy or False Economy?

Designed to be both practical and thought-provoking, the session will take a critical look at sterilisation containerisation, exploring whether reusable container systems truly deliver long-term sustainability and value, or whether hidden costs can undermine their perceived benefits.

Drawing on the combined expertise of Surgical Holdings, Stille and Fehling, following Surgical Holdings’ integration into the Stille Group, the webinar will bring together decades of shared knowledge in surgical instrumentation, sterilisation systems and education. This collaboration strengthens the Academy’s ability to deliver evidence-led learning grounded in real-world clinical and operational experience.

The webinar will examine the full lifecycle of sterilisation containers, including manufacture, materials and consumables, as well as the environmental impact associated with their use. Sustainability will sit at the heart of the discussion, reflecting the growing pressure on healthcare providers to reduce waste while maintaining safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The session will also cover maintenance considerations and best-practice guidance, supporting theatre and sterile services teams to manage container systems effectively over time, while identifying potential risks, inefficiencies and cost implications.

By combining expert insight with practical experience, the Surgical Holdings Academy aims to equip attendees with a balanced, informed perspective to support confident decision-making.

Commenting on the upcoming webinar, Dan Coole said “Sterilisation containers are a great solution for protecting surgical instruments, during reprocessing and for handling. To understand how to care for these, it’s important to have knowledge around materials used for manufacture and what important maintenance steps.”

With over 35 years of experience, Surgical Holdings is a trusted supplier of high-quality surgical instruments and repairs to the NHS, helping to extend instrument lifecycles while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. As part of the Stille Group, and with access to the specialist expertise of Fehling, the company is further strengthening its commitment to education and best practice across theatres and sterile services.

Through the Surgical Holdings Academy, this combined expertise is shared with healthcare professionals to support the safe, sustainable and effective use of surgical instruments and systems.
