We can take surgical instruments that may be ineffective and idle and create a more efficient and modern version, by carrying out a review of the original instrument’s design we can restore and even create a new bespoke instrument to the end-users satisfaction.
For example, we have recently received a dental luxator which originally had a plastic handle and a damaged working end, the technician decided to create a bespoke luxator with the same working end to include the main requirements but they also incorporated a blue acetal Suregrip handle to replace the plastic, they then chose the relevant grade of stainless steel which was hardenable and manufactured to the British standard guidelines BS 5194. By upgrading the handle and using modern material will improve the grip and control during a procedure, the new handle will also have improved cleaning efficacy which will benefit the sterile services department and more importantly the patient.
